Brewing Great Coffee Doesn't Require a Café
Whether you're using a drip machine, French press, or pour-over, the secret to a perfect cup starts with quality beans and the right technique. At Rooted Brew, we believe every morning deserves café-quality coffee — without leaving your kitchen.
Step 1: Start with Fresh, Quality Beans
Coffee begins to lose flavor within days of roasting. Always choose freshly roasted, small-batch coffee like our signature blends. Store beans in an airtight container away from light and heat.
Step 2: Grind Right Before Brewing
Pre-ground coffee loses aroma fast. Grind your beans just before brewing for maximum flavor. Use a coarse grind for French press, medium for drip, and fine for espresso.
Step 3: Use the Right Water Temperature
Water between 195–205°F (just off boiling) extracts the best flavor. Too hot burns the coffee; too cool under-extracts it, leaving a flat, sour taste.
Step 4: Nail Your Coffee-to-Water Ratio
A good starting point is 1–2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 oz of water. Adjust to taste — stronger or lighter, it's your cup.
Step 5: Clean Your Equipment
Old coffee oils go rancid and ruin flavor. Rinse your equipment after every use and deep clean weekly.
